Through the generosity of our donors and bidders the 2017 IITA Summit Silent Auction raised $7,700 for Tourism Cares!

IITA Board Chairman, Gary Schluter, presenting Tourism Cares Director of Advancement and Engagement, John Yonce, with a check for the proceeds of the 2017 IITA Silent Auction.

Tourism Cares, works to channel the philanthropic passion and commitment of the travel industry to protect and restore emerging or at-risk destinations we all care about. Tourism Cares has helped aid destinations such as New Orleans after Katrina, Plimoth Plantation, the Los Angeles Waterfront near San Pedro, and more recently, Nepal.  Through volunteering, grants, business connections and advocacy, Tourism Cares invests in high potential destinations where tourism can be an engine of prosperity and community pride.

In 2017 Tourism Cares For Our Cities:

  • Oakland, March 23 – 24
  • Detroit, May 11 – 12
  • Providence, September 14 – 15
  • Toronto, October 26 – 27

At these four locations across North America, professionals from the travel industry will volunteer with local partners to fulfill the most pressing needs of the cities. In some cases it will be helping to transform the urban landscape by reviving public spaces or enhancing the accessibility of recreational facilities and amenities.
